TR-T0125 Visum ICA SBA

Short Description

Realistic impedance modelling for nodes premises that nodes are modelled in detail in a way that conflicts between turns can be identified correctly. Transferred to Visum this means, that for these nodes the geometry and control need to be modelled in the junction editor. Subsequently, precise impedances and capacities of the turns can be calculated using the Intersection Capacity Analysis (ICA).

Simulation-based dynamic assignment (SBA) is a dynamic assignment procedure that accounts for node impedances and allows users to model the forming and dissolving of queues over time. The supply and demand may be varied over time. Unlike other dynamic assignment procedures in Visum, the network is loaded with demand based on a simulation. This means that individual vehicles are simulated and a simple car following model is applied to have the vehicles follow the paths they are assigned. The procedure is suited for medium-sized and large networks whose network model and demand are suitably modelled for dynamic applications.

Over the course of the training, you will define highway assignment procedures with ICA and SBA. We fill focus on the relevant network and junction coding to understand the requirements and benefits of using these assignment techniques. We will learn about key input and output parameters and we will also see how an ICA or SBA network can be evaluated.
