Contents

As roadway designs change to prioritize safety and mobility over throughput, the needs are growing for analyses of these intersection types, and PTV VISSIM is the industry standard for modelling of advanced intersection types.  With the knowledge of VISSIM modelling basics, and modelling of the Ring Barrier Controller (RBC) signal controllers, we will focus on a few types of “advanced intersections in PTV VISSIM”.  The course will focus on the “best practices” for modelling urban roundabouts in VISSIM, with practical examples and some discussion on capacity and modelling of “right-of-way”.  The course will also focus on the transit signal priority (TSP) features native to PTV VISSIM, with several types of preemption explained.  And finally, the course will touch on the modelling of “alternative intersections”, such as the SPUI and Diverging Diamond, how to model them, and the interaction with PTV Vissim for building and co-analyses.
