The tour-based model Visem is a disaggregated, behavior-oriented demand model which allows the planner to include all kinds of data relating to socio-demography and traffic policy issues. The tour-based model calculates three logical work unit: Trip generation, Trip distribution and Mode choice. These three logical units are not processed separately in succession by the tour-based model, but are interlocked. Especially steps 2 and 3, Trip distribution and Mode choice are carried out simultaneous in a single procedure. In all three work units two important concepts have been implemented for the tour-based model: Calculation on the basis of groups with homogeneous behavior and activity chains.

Short Description
Course Level
Advanced
Target Group
This course provides experienced users a deeper insight into demand modelling. It is aimed at users who already have basic knowledge of demand modelling and who want to extend it to the tour-based model / activity chain based model Visem.
Prerequisites
You have successfully participated in our course "PTV Visum – Creating a 4-Step Transport Model" (TR-T0109) or have comparable knowledge of demand modelling in PTV Visum. You also have obtained practical project experience.
Duration
1 Day
Due to organizational and local conditions, the duration of the course may vary. Please note the details of your chosen course date before booking.
Contents
- Demand modelling with Visem
- Principles and properties of the procedure
- Data structure
- Model architecture
This one day course will introduce you to the principles of the demand model Visem, it’s data structure and model architecture. The subjects of model segmentation, data supply, calibration and validation will be discussed and practiced on a Visem training model.
As a supplement, we offer a one day course “Demand model EVA” (TR-T0118) and “Demand model Freight modelling” (TR-T0119).
